Course Overview

The course, a result of a 19-month national research project led by the Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS), offers engaging strategies for synchronous/blended instruction and assessment. It was a collaborative effort, with New Language Solutions as the project partner and research partner organizations, including ISS of BC, NorQuest College, Red River College, YMCA of Greater Saint John, and ISANS. Local researchers, instructors, and clients participated in the field research and testing phases.

Course Content

The “Best Practices Guide for Synchronous/Blended Learning,” which includes customizable Creative Commons licensed checklists, is available on Tutela and within the course.

Six structured topics with self-assessment questionnaires, H5P activities, and discussion forums for self-paced learning

A dedicated section highlighting the importance of administrators in EAL programs.
