 Sample Lesson Plans

The Sample Lesson Plans were compiled as part of a cross-Canada project. ESL teachers submitted samples of successful lesson plans for learners at Stages 1 and 2 of the CLB (CLB 1–8). These lessons outline ideas for activities and tasks to help learners develop CLB competencies in all four skills.

Learn more about using the CLB as a framework for lesson planning from the Canadian Language Benchmarks 2000: A Guide to Implementation. Chapter 6 includes ideas and examples of lessons based on CLB, along with suggestions for further readings.

It is our hope that these samples provide a useful springboard for developing task-based lessons for your learners using the CLB as your reference.
